Team Dirty Hookers Angler: Jack SwackHammer 7'10" (94") Lemon,Spinning gear, 65lb braid

Let me start with: I am going to do a little dance when I land my first Tiger Shark!

On Monday 5/6, I lost a beast. Shark hit the 10/0 and that reel was screaming. First time I have witnessed anything like that. I read about it all the time but now I know what a reel sounds like when the clicker goes so fast that it does not even sound like clicks.
The hook was set and the drag was locked down and the line was peeling off like it was in free spool. It felt like the rod was going to get yanked from my arms. I pulled back on the rod with the gimble in hip, only top have the rod pulled back down, pointing straight out to sea. Once the harness was set up and I could put some more pressure on him, he turned to the south. Came in and then back out a couple times. As easy as it was to get some line back, it was gone again. On his third trip in and then out, he wrapped up the only god forsaken buoy in sight. I was using 80LB mono so I tried to horse him across gently a couple times. I could feel the lines as it ran across the nylon rope that anchors the buoy. After some time went by, I knew it was a lost cause. I could feel the head shakes and also feel the pulling in sync with the swells. I loosened the drag. The shark took the slack and ran that line across the nylon and "POP." The line went slack. It was over. I just stood there for a minute staring at the ocean. I was overwhelmed with feelings aggravation, excitement, joy and sadness. This was the first big one I have hooked up with and my first big loss. Oh wee, it was time to suck it up an move on!

Later that night, a different buoy that had been busted free came into the line on my short drop! In one night, I get the only stationary buoy and then I get the only mobile buoy. That free buoy was on a seek and destroy mission. It was my sign to pack it up.

Last night, I got my first shark of the BHC.

damn man, is sad to hear that, one time i caught a hammer fishing solo at the pier that was over 13ft and i didnt have a camera and the pier master made me cut the line immediately. when things like that happens, there isnt anything you can do but build a bridge and get over it. good luck next time

Team: Palm Beach Pioneers Angler: Katelyn Harris aka (Mrs. Lemon)7 ft 10 in Male Lemon on the 9/0 w 80lb mono.

It's been tough for our team so far, but the harder we fish the better it gets.
We changed spots and found a hot spot that we will be fishing again tomorrow.
We had 3 hits last night.

She did and awesome job of the running woman and set the J hook in Mr. Lemons mouth.

We all knew she had a nice one on.

Shark swam off strong.

I had a great time last night fishing with everyone. It still plays in my head over and over how quickly I sprung up from sleeping when I heard my reel getting hit. lol rippinlipsoff, you are fun to fish with. Thanks for showing us the spot! Can't wait to fish again! That shark fought hard till the very end! It would not give up!

It has been a great tournament to to watch so far!! Congratulations to all the angleres and teams catching such good fish in the tourney!!

There are still a few days left but its never over until the end. There are a lot of outstanding anglers fishing hard in this tourney. I believe it is possible to see some leader board changes during this last weekend.

For those that have had rough tourney...I know how tough it can be at this stage of the game, but if you can, go soak a bait. It only takes one fish to change everything ;)

Good luck to all! Wishing you all the fish of your dreams!
